Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
9 times a vote, 9 times failed. Congress needs to end this and get back to work. When did we stop being the UNITED states and become the slop buckets of this two-party representation system?
Ok, I'm better now. I've attended "No Kings" protests and will be at one this Saturday.
Gee, you may ask, where has she been? Well, I've been here and there doing this and that. 😁
I've vacationed twice this year; in the spring to Oklahoma and Texas and just came back from Idaho and Oregon. We've got 5 or 6 states to complete the map! DH is grumbling and I don't blame him. More below.
This was the Oklahoma City National Memorial site. The museum was one of the best we've seen.
In Texas we visited the GW Bush Presidential Library. Personally, I think I should have been seated behind the Resolute Desk replica, but not surprisingly, the docent asked DH to sit, not me. You've guessed how that sat in MY brain.
In Idaho, we visited multiple falls, took a boat ride on the Snake River, and visited Craters of the Moon NM. I took the hike up into this small volcano and peered down into the darkness. My 10 year old self wanted to be a volcanologist, so I was giddy.
I got to visit to Crater Lake. It was everything I'd hoped to see, except my bucket list at age 55 is now at age 71, so I didn't try to climb down to the water's edge. We added the younger siblings to this trip.
The grumbles... I picked up a throat tickle on the plane. In four days it turned into a slight cough. By the time we reached the Oregon coast, I ended up in the ER of the tiniest (21 bed) hospital, I've ever seen. Three stretchers, no waiting. Proclaimed bronchitis, and safe to travel, I kept up and still had a nice visit on the coast. DH fell ill two days behind me and we missed driving the Columbia River scenic highway by spending time in one of Portland's "weird" sections (I've never seen so many piercings, rainbow hair and homeless camps in one spot) in urgent care. Same diagnosis. My sister-in-law managed to survive the plane home and was at her doctor several days later with the same thing. All the docs said it's another tough bug they've been seeing.
There you have it; the short version.
I'm still doing all the things I do, but modified. I was told yesterday that my original parts have worn out, my warranty has expired, and I have to have use an after-market replacement for my hip. Whenever I'm ready. I barely limp, but it does hurt. The other one is almost there, too, said the doc.
What's keeping me up at night, besides the tachycardia and a-fib most likely associated with sleep apnea, WTF, is I'm going to need to hire someone to help with daily activities for DH when I have  surgery. He's still scrappy and fun, but time is taking a toll on him, too. My eldest is recovering from major health issues and being a mom, so she can't help and the other kid lives too far away. I've got some good leads as the ladies who took care of my neighbor still call me for recommendations. I may recommend they stay with me for a while!
Otherwise, life is busy, routine, not-so-routine and I'm loving every damned minute of it!

Well, good to hear from you! Sounds like nice trips, except for getting the bronchitis! Sheesh. Hope it has stopped it’s spread!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos. Looks like everyone had a good time.
Good luck w/your hip replacement.
Hope you find someone to help your DH your while you recuperate.
In July DH had a prostate surgery. The surgery itself went well, but he had a very swerious cardiac arrythmia. Ended up in ICU. The day after surgery I was on my way early to the hospital in hopes of seeing the cardiologist. Well that plan went south real fast. Fractured my left hip. *SIGH* Had to call 9-1-1 and ended up having a hip repair the following afternoon. So we were both in hospital @ the same time but couldn’t see each other. Then had to tackle how HE was going to be cared for as he has severe mobility issues now. Used a home health agency and it worked out well. I required care, too, so it was a “two-fer”
Both on the road to recovery now. What a journey.
Wishing you luck w/your hip replacement.

OMG. I am glad you are both recovering! Be careful, and thanks for the encouragement,
Delete(Did you wear a frog costume in Portland?) O o . Did I say that out loud?
ReplyDeleteSeriously, you're still having fun, still working on that bucket list, and that's a good thing! Handsome crew there, even on a "modified" checklist of activities. Glad you were pronounced safe to be a tourist, and that you got safely home, too.
LOL, I'm Wearing my American flag inspired shirt and my best "hot nana" look! Pictures to follow.
ReplyDeleteZ has had to go to OKC a couple of times on business these past couple of months, but I don’t think he has made it by the memorial? I’ll have to give him a little “motherly nudge” 😉
ReplyDeleteGreat photos!
