Snow

It was interesting how tight the bands of heavy vs not-so were. When GS1 and SIL came to help Pop dig out, they were surprised. Eight miles away they had about half of what we got.

In my yard, unofficially, 19 inches of white stuff came down overnight Sunday to Monday.

My honey had to go it alone. He used the snow thrower but as the day passed, the water content of this snow made it difficult to get some distance, rendering the machine "almost" useless.

There's an Expedition (SUV/truck) under that snow. It looked like we added a conversion top!

When the boys arrived, they cleaned off the vehicles, moved more snow and for a while the cars were clean, half of the driveway usable. The other half will simply need to wait for melting.

My view out the window from my recliner as I was not allowed to participate. If you squint, you can see my reflection.

The blue skies and warm sun yesterday dried up the driveway and cars were clean. As of this morning, the pile visible in the window had imploded by melting to where it barely peeks over the sill!

However, it was snowing when I got up this morning and everything that had been clean and dry now has another 1-2 inches of snow.

Great.

  1. Wow! Glad your GS1 and SIL came to help get your cleared out as well as it could be. What a lot of snow!

I hope your recuperation is coming along well, too.

  2. Impressive! Hopefully they did not have to physically restrain you from participation in the cleanup!

We got that six inches a week ago, and it was the most we'd had in over a year. You clearly got more. The advantage of snow in late February and into March is it doesn't usually last long, and that "implosion via melting" of which you write is awesome (until it results in a flood downstream, of course).

Thought of you when I saw the national news as we were in the rapid melt while yours was falling. Glad you're doing well with the recovery, too. And wahoo! for the younger generation(s) helping out. Sometimes it's nice to just accept that we need a little assistance!

  4. I think we’ve gotten past our winter weather - now I’m just anxiously waiting for the pecan trees to bud out; then I know spring has really sprung!
