My grandson was ecstatic yesterday. Sure, gifts are good, but one of the best was that he is now taller than me! I had been the tallest in our family but between me losing an inch, and him growing like the weeds kids are, he now tops me (by a hair or two). There was a "Yessssssss!" accompanied with a first shove in the air.
The middle child is growing to be the clown, not so much in height and Little Miss at 9 is a as tall as her 12 year old brother; something she hits him with frequently. ;-)
One of our dinner discussions was how to change a flat tire, as GS1 has completed drivers ed (when did that happen?)
All of the family was, for the first time, dressed in jeans and not a jogger pant on anyone but Pop, and that's ok!
We played some card game called Chameleon, and learned who was the sneakier person in the bunch. It was not Little Miss, as she whined every time she got the card!
Not a picture was taken. Hmmm. Memories for me only.
I just thought I'd post this to remind myself of the passage of time and how good it can be.
LOL! Good for your grandson! Any child over the age of 7 would be taller than I am! LOLOL
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhh, I can imagine Sweet Caroline reminds her brother that she’s as tall as him. LOL
Sounds like you had a wonderful family gathering. So wonderful to make those memories.
All the best wishes for the New Year!

DS had (fiancee) Victoria & I stand back-to-back - we are exactly the same height (5' 7")
ReplyDeleteI've heard that young men marry women who are like their mothers!!??!!
May those memories be sharp and in focus, Janet! And remain so. Sometimes just living the experience is a way to solidify and develop the memories.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! And congrats to your grandson on topping the family height chart! Are you going to make him show you he knows how to change a tire? I had to change one to prove to my dad that I could, and then a second one to prove to my husband that I could. But other than that, the couple of times I was faced with one, I took advantage of the societal expectation that this was a "manly" thing and let kind strangers help me out.
Best wishes to your entire family for a happy, healthy, and sane 2026!
