Well, here I am folks, 11 days in to being the bionic woman. Hubby mimics the "Six Million Dollar" man's jumping theme as I tool around the house on my walker.

I'm upgraded to a cane twice a day in the kitchen only for practice walking and free to stroll the bathroom, all 16 square feet of it sans support.

I've kept a grin on my face most days watching him try to care for both of us when it's usually the other way around. Today I took on a bit of pulling dinner together from pre-baked meatloaf and I nuked whole potatoes, peeled and mashed them. He supplied the equipment.

I notice his deficits more since I can't do things. He's noticing them too, and is feeling a bit low about it. Ten years ago I didn't think he'd make 65 and here he is turning 75 this year! The work was hard, but rewarding.

DD1's family came over on Valentines day for a visit, and that's about it. I'm not in an entertaining mood and if someone visits they have to opt for using the upgraded toilet that is now covered by the raised commode seat, or the powder room/laundry room loo that's cold as ice as it has a full outside door leading to the pool. Blessing in the summer, curse in the winter.

Enjoy your week and the passage of time. February is already half over, Lent starts next week, and we've only 4 more weeks of winter per Phil.

  1. LOLOL! Wow! 11 days post op! Good for you for gradually graduating to a cane. You’re doing well. And yes, doesn’t it bring a bit of a smile when the roles are reversed and DH’s have to be in charge. A bit scary!

Oh boy, at least your DH is trying! That’s a huge leap forward.

And isn’t it so good to know that you took such good care of DH and he’s going to be 75. Awesome job.

Oh honey, we have TWO upgraded seat risers as DH has mobility issues and I had broken my hip.

Continue recuperating well! Thinking of you.

hugs and member of the bionic woman club, too

    1. Thanks for the empathy! Lucky us, our 50's ranch bathrooms are so small, the sink vanities serve as lift assist for now.

  2. I am so proud of both of you! I would say getting ten extra years (deficits be d*mned) is winning at living! One day at a time, and I can see you are the same determined and smart lady I've known over the Spark and post-Spark years! We've got this, my friend!

Keeping the good vibes wafting your way!
