Ho, ho, ho, a few days to go!

Things have been busy here in the OJ household.

We 'peopled' (using OKM's term) last weekend at the 10 month delayed wedding celebration/now baby shower of my niece at a winery. I had my 2 glasses of white wine, a bit of supper and was nicely done. There were relatives I'd not seen in about 10 years including my brother's ex-wife and one of his kids.

We all got along.

Last night we attended the middle school concert of my eldest grandchild, a trombone player. My DH and I had fond memories of his mother's concerts. It was enjoyable!

Tomorrow is the family Christmas party which will be the last in our rented cabin. The littles have all grown past hide and seek in the rooms screaming while running up and down stairs, slide-diving on wooden floors or throwing things at us from the loft. It's time to move on to a restaurant and a shorter party. Additionally there are so many kids involved in sports that there is going to be a revolving attendance.

Next week my usual traveling companions and I are going to tour the governor's mansion to see the Christmas decorations and hear history of the building originally built in 1835. Perhaps we'll even see Governor Murphy or his wife Tammy. We top that off with a walk though downtown Princeton and dinner. It's fun to be a visitor in your own backyard!

I hope the coming weeks are kind to all. Happy or merry Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanza, Boxing Day and of course, Festivus!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Christmas was cancelled! Actually, our party was. Half of the family has a nasty virus of some sort and there was too much coughing and sneezing to safely have our party. My one sister in law donated her soups to a family that had a house fire and I gifted my neighbors with loaves of home baked bread. The venue graciously allowed us to carry our rental into next year and we may get together in February for a winter retreat! Going with the flow!

  1. What a lovely collection of traditions, spread over the weeks leading up to Christmas. May you enjoy that "last" party at the cabin... I remember seeing those family photos year by year. Gee, it's like being "old friends" over those Spark years. Old friends that see each other on rare occasions, and always with great joy! Enjoy it all! Be safe, stay warm and healthy!

  2. Yes, those are really nice traditions and sound a lot of fun. And revolving attendance sound like things will just keep going and going! Enjoy!

  4. It is nice to have such a big family to convene with. I can't remember the last time I have been to a wedding or baby shower. Was it mine? LOL.

My best friend in grade school played the trombone.

I would enjoy touring the governor's mansion. My son and I had a private tour of the appellate court house here where Lincoln tried a case. Who knew that has that kind of money back then. Pretty posh.

So many people here are hacking and sick. We have practiced avoidance.

    Merry Christmas, Happy New year!

  5. (Val again) - sorry to hear about “delayed Christmas”, but sounds as if you’ve made the best of it!
