How am I, you may wonder. Pretty good! I am still following the diet prescribed by the MDs and dietician and only adding a thing or two back in weekly. I have discovered a lot of other things about my food and myself.
I don't need all the ........(insert something here). Just because the label states the whole can of tuna is one serving, doesn't mean I have to eat the whole can; 1/3 does nicely.
The slice of farmhouse bread, toasted, is just fine cut in half instead of using two slices.
Pickles taste the same even when the peels are removed.
I am living without a lot of cheese, my previous staple. Living without second helpings as well.
Eventually I will be able to exchange all this 'white food' for higher fiber veggies and grains.
The result is I've lost 11 pounds since the end of January. I don't feel deprived.
Huh.
Good job!! Weight loss plus you are moving toward a healthier diet. As you get older you will find that fiber is your best friend. You can take fiber supplements but I prefer eating it. Getting enough fiber when you eat out is very challenging. On days when I may fall short I take some fiber gummies. Otherwise I am the queen of fiber.
ReplyDeleteI was the queen of fiber, too! I had to ditch it all for a while. Slowly adding it back in.
DeleteI often didn't meet my fiber needs prior to getting diverticulitis. I thought I was getting it in because I ate a lot of veggies but I was not. When I began tracking it and took a Fiber Challenge I saw what I was doing wrong.
DeleteJust dropped in to encourage on your recovery. I hope things are going well. Stay the course. Hugs.
DeleteI sent you an email.
DeleteGlad you're doing well. One foot in front of another, right?
ReplyDeleteBaby steps, too.
DeleteWow! that's great you've released 11 lbs. since January. You're doing the right things. Takes time to get into new eating habits, but sounds like you're doing well.

I am, thanks.
ReplyDelete(Once again, Google is being exclusionary but this is Val!)
ReplyDeleteFantastic job! My son asked me if I had lost weight - hard to imagine he could notice my meager 3-lb loss; I laughed it off to the slimming effects of wearing black but will accept any flattery!
Still sorting out the vagaries of my own diet, Rome wasn’t built in a day…
Don't I know it! Keep up the good work.
