More work for me.

Now that I've fairly recovered from Covid and am muddling through allergies, it's time to get back to business. There are still large rest periods and naps.

The garden is growing and all my plants, including the butternut squash and cucumbers, are turning from seeds to seedlings. I wish nighttime temps would rise above the 50's to boost the growing. Also it would be great for my pool. We uncovered it last weekend, the water was 69F. This time last year it was about 10 degrees higher.

Climate change!

I had been on a kitchen renovation kick before getting ill. I had time to internet shop while in quarantine and by the time I was freed, I was panicking about the prices! My appliances are in great shape but I won't be able to re-use them. My problem is my ability to get down on the floor to reach back into the cabinet to get heavy pans and glass bowls. I can do it now, sometimes with some grumbling, but how about 5 years from now? I don't want to be the 'old person' who gets by.  I want my comfort now. I got all worked up about it and have dropped the ball for now.

Instead, for other updates, I took DH out to the same carpet store where we got our carpet (you all have heard me talk about keeping clean) 23 years ago and today we purchased a new one. It is a similar sand color, slightly lower pile but just as dense. I'm happy as a clam.

An Overworkedjanet clam.

Although the flooring company will move the furniture and take up and recycle the old carpet (for fees I gladly paid) and put down the new, I get to be the painter!!!! As long as everything is going out and the walls are accessible, on goes new coats of paint. Dang. My house is open concept. Living room, dining, kitchen and hallways all share the same ceiling. It's not that I have so much else going on, I'm following the lines of:

I ain't as good as I once was, but I'm as good onceAs I ever was (Toby Keith)

It takes me all day to do what I used to do all day!

I have a paint color in mind for the rooms, the LR, DR and hallways will be one color which makes it easier. I'm no designer. The ceiling needs some patching and I guess I'll get started now. Saying I'm getting things ready early for the new carpet is a cover for it's going to take ma a lot longer than it used to!!!!!!!

  2. Ooh, ooh, stirring up the desires to "get on with" my own pandemic-interrupted home upgrades. The very thought of moving the furniture... ugh! But one can hire muscle to do some things. Part of it is decision reluctance... not sure what I want to do with the walls... paint or paper? Definitely needs carpet replacement, and I love the description of a sandy color!

Might take me months to get there, but I might also just surprise myself. Good luck with your "home work"! And glad you're feeling better enough to get ready!

    1. There must have been 15 'sandy' colors and I was hysterical listening to my man say "I don't see a green hint or a gray cast". Apparently anything beige is one color in a box of crayons! LOL. I could describe the new carpet as a slightly golden sand vs the current one which has a peach tone. They ARE different. Trust me!

    2. I do trust you. I am one of those people who sees differences in shades. There are tests to determine if you are or are not such a color perceiver. I'm better you are, and DH is not.

    3. Glad you are better. Keep in mind that relapses are common and don't push yourself too hard. The rest and naps are a great idea. As my wise grandma always pointed out - the dirt will always be there and sometimes it's a good idea to ignore it.

I asked Benny not to plant a garden like I do every year but he did and not he is overwhelmed trying to plant a zillion tomato and pepper plants. I don't like tomatoes and am not into eating a zillion peppers a day either. He gave away a bunch too. Last year his harvest was minimal due to lack of sun and no pollinators. Very stubborn man. Oh, I forgot, you have one too. LOL.

I have long wanted a pool but Benny says no due to the fact that we would require a pool heater and pool boy. The latter is not such a bad idea to me depending on what he looks like. LOL.

Kitchen remodels are horribly expensive. I'm glad we have most of that done on the inside except for flooring. It will be opting for gray carpet for the living room. We just finished the storage wall in the new den. Found some gray paint we loved. Now he is working on redoing our hosta bed. Trimming shrubs.

    4. I remember when you did your kitchen and posted the pictures on SP. Very nice.

    5. We had to gut the room including tearing out the flooring. Way too much work. We love blue and gray so most of our house is that but we do have all colors.
