Hi, all!
I have only a quick note for updates.
My beloved neighbor, Ruth, is back home once again. She broke her hip again in January (that makes 3 hip breaks, a femur and 2 compound fractures of the ankle in the past 10 years.) She can walk with a walker! She was as happy to see me as I was her. Her hearing is not good so it was fun to chat with her. Her mind is as sharp as ever. We are invited to her birthday party next month when she turns 100!
My beloved carpeting is being replaced in a few weeks. That has caused me to paint...about half the interior of the house as it's open concept. DH bought me a ladder that is extremely light and has platform steps. Isn't he nice to help? LOL! The man breaks out in hives at the thought of painting.
Getting my steps, up, down and in length has been great as well as the platform steps being better on my knees. What arm, shoulder and back exercises I get using the roller and lifting the 16 pound ladder (correctly). My glutes hurt. My abs hurt because using the roller requires a core workout.
See? I turn anything into exercise!
For those of you tortured by my carpet sagas, the new one has a hint of gold but still in the light colors. My walls are going from a hint of peach to a dusty, pale butterscotch. It doesn't photograph well so you must use your imagination.
Now my mind is occupied with rearranging rooms and thoughts of different furniture but my budget will most likely have me re-framing or putting new pictures on the walls. My daughters HS graduation portraits will no longer hang above the sofas. I think I'll make a gallery in the hallway of all the people pictures and go to my own landscapes I've taken over time.
My garden is flourishing. I've harvested snow peas and herbs. How great was my joy yesterday to inspect my garden and find...hoof prints and trimmed plants!!!!!! She's back. The hostas were nibbled, tomato plants lost tender leaves and a host of green beans were bared to the ground. Arghhh. Last evening Bambi sauntered down the middle of the road like she owned the place and I noticed the distinct baggage of milk sacks. She made it to one of the abandoned homes down the street and paused to look all around. She made a bee-line to the backyard so I'm assuming she's got another fawn or two hidden there.
There goes the rest of my hostas and the beans.
Have a great day, all.
God’s blessings to your neighbor Ruth! OH my . . . still living @ home @ almost 100!
ReplyDeleteOH boy. Good luck w/the new carpeting and how lovely you got a new, lightweight ladder out of the deal w/the painting.
The deer are hungry this time of the year for sure. Ah well. Hope you at least get to see her littles!
Have a great summer.
Hugs

The new fawn was verified by a utility worker today!
Delete(It’s Val) - but don’t take it personally, I have comment moderation “on” since Way Back When I’ve gotten spammed. Butterscotch, huh? DS hates our lime-green walls (but then again, he don’t live here no mo’ :-(
ReplyDeleteI got half my baby photos taken down with plans to replace ‘em with ride photos - still workin’ on it!
People named Ruth are often my favorite people on the planet. One of my favorite friends that died was named Ruth. Our Godmother's name is Ruth. She is in her 90s. A saint. I am so happy that your Ruth is going to make it to 100.
ReplyDeleteWe have a platform ladder and I love it. I'm still not someone who should be on ladders but these are much safer. Like Al, I break out in hives at the thought of painting too. Gruesome. We have done away with most painting and what we do paint now is a nice blue-gray. I do love Functional Fitness though. Would much rather get exercise accomplishing something than running on a treadmill or pumping iron.
I have my rooms mostly arranged and have an abundance of furniture I don't want to get rid of. I have some in the pole barn I do. We ran out of walls to hang things on. And we have too many things hanging but I am okay with that. Hopefully someone won't give me a Van Gogh or Monet.
My herbs are doing well too. Benny is taking care or the garden. No tomatoes yet. Sorry to hear about your plants. Our are covered and so far no problems.
I'd like someone to give me a Rubens painting so I can stand under it and prove my body is a work of art.
DeleteLOL. I wonder if any painters today focus on old fat ladies like me. Whistler's Mother was a dog but she was thin. If you want to see a painting that is truly repulsive look at Lucian Freud’s the Fat Lady Sings. LOL.
DeleteGross!
DeleteLOL. Can't imagine why anyone would pose for this picture or paint it or hang in on their wall.
DeleteHow awesome that Ruth is home again! I'm sure her 100th Birthday celebration will be a hoot!
ReplyDeleteI'm late to the party, as I don't get out to read blogs every day. This morning I was out on the water, which was smooth as glass. This afternoon the mail carrier had water delivered to him in his truck... in my driveway... surprising me! Glad they are taking care of their drivers / delivery people!
I still haven't got my planning act together about the next phase of house improvements, but I'm moving in the right direction. The plexiglass dividers are now down at the doctor's office, and masks are "optional" even there! Soon I might go pick out carpet for the next phase, and I'll be thinking about the colors you chose.
Surprise! I’m on vacation so more time to do what I want. Lovely to see a blog from you.
ReplyDeleteA home full of your photography displayed would be incredible. I enjoy being surrounded by purchased, gifted, and DD art displayed in mine. The butterscotch sounds beautiful!
Great to "see" you, relax!
