I interupt the photo journal of my 10 state trip to bring you my walk along the D&R Canal on Wednesday. I've connected with a friend from the past who also likes to walk so we'll try to meet often. The good walk was followed by a lunch that counterbalanced the exercise! Mostly it was good for my soul. This was my first time on this section and I found many new things to view yet the overall feeling was familiarity. Here are the pictures with little comentary.

This lock is strictly for hydro control. The original pass-through locks are long gone although the surrounding ground contains imprints of the working mechanisms.


This spillway may be original (1850) and it's still used.


The dam that creates Carnege Lake, used by the Princeton row team and other boaters.


The view across Carnege Lake. I travel behind those trees almost daily. This was my first time on the 'other side.'

    I *did* indeed enjoy your walk! Something about being out amidst all that beauty brings peace to the soul. And lunch with a friend. I wish you both many such walk and talks in future... and the weather to support them. I truly love the reflective shots of the Fall foliage (received several such from my daughter in law as they were down in Northern Arkansas, which is why I got Carl. They are home and so is he, so this photo spread was timely!

    Loved the walk. Especially loved that you reconnected with a friend. It gives me hope that someday I might have a friend here. Walk plus lunch sounds perfect. It's what I loved when I had friends, though most of mine were fairly lazy. I was the one who wasn't. Most people here are lazy. My fat neighbor once commented that she saw me walking/trying to fight the battle of the bulge. She suggested that I instead go to Mexico and have weight loss surgery. No. Not going there. She did and died at 59 due to that. Keep walking and connecting. At least one of us, aka you, has a chance to stay sane. LOL.

 How am I, you may wonder. Pretty good! I am still following the diet prescribed by the MDs and dietician and only adding a thing or two back in weekly. I have discovered a lot of other things about my food and myself. I don't need all the ........(insert something here). Just because the label states the whole can of tuna is one serving, doesn't mean I have to eat the whole can; 1/3 does nicely.  The slice of farmhouse bread, toasted, is just fine cut in half instead of using two slices.  Pickles taste the same even when the peels are removed. I am living without a lot of cheese, my previous staple. Living without second helpings as well.  Eventually I will be able to exchange all this 'white food' for higher fiber veggies and grains. The result is I've lost 11 pounds since the end of January. I don't feel deprived.  Huh.

 Dear Diary, Missed you! I've not been of a mind to post anything. I purchased several of the books OKM was reading as we have similar tastes. I dove into the Fast. Feast. Repeat. book and read it from cover to cover. It was a better read for me than Bright Line Eating, I feel both authors put too much personality in them. I'm a more scientific approach, give me the facts, girl. To me Thompson comes on a bit haughty, Stephens' writing puts me in a 6th grade classroom. Sigh. I've gotten over myself. Just when I hit my 2 week attempt at IF, I spent multiple weeks in the throes of diverticulitis with a few days R&R in the hospital. I called them my spa days. Didn't have to care for DH and didn't care that I couldn't. The only thing missing was a mud pack and a massage. Their kitchen choices were not up to my standards even on a clear liquid diet.
