70 is the new 50. 


Saturday, DD2, hubby and dog showed up at my house for what I thought was their visit to the vet to get Chewy's sutures removed. After they entered and I was busy feeding the required cheese to my minute guest, the doorbell rang. My SIL yelled out the neighbor was at the door and I needed to answer it. 

It wasn't my neighbor, it was my cousin from Florida! My only utterance was Oh Sh..! Then I cried.

We had a good catch up. Turned out she had arrived the day before and stayed with DD2 and her family, getting to know my SIL she never met and of course, Chewy. 

There was a dinner party planned for the evening so off we went. 

I walked into the place, saw my grandkids and proceeded to say hi to them and my other daughter. 

Another Oh Sh..! left my mouth as there sat my brother. More tears. Neither my cousin nor brother knew the other was coming so that was another surprise. They hadn't seen each other since we were teens!

After dinner we all retired to DD1's home and had some more good time and cake. I have been well-celebrated. My cuz goes home today after her first visit "up north" in about 20 years. She's cold.

That's about all I have for now. Barb, OKM, reminded me my BD was a palindrome; 42124. Cool.

    Awwww! What a great family celebration of YOU! I love those kinds of surprises.

    The dinner for my son and his wife's 1st wedding anniversary was wonderful, too, and we hope to make it an annual event.

    Good grief! I can't believe how big your grand kids are getting!! The oldest looks like he will be driving soon! Yikes!

    Great looking family! Your brother is cute!! I am so glad that they all appreciate you!! I think I recognize all of them - If the woman on the far right and the man seated on the right of your hubby is his brother and SIL?

      You got the family properly placed! Good job. We travel everywhere with DH's brother and wife. The eldest grandson turns 14 in September. High School. You met him on Spark when he was about a year old.

      Time certainly does fly! I'm not sure that I have been doing for the past 13 years but it's probably good I can't remember a lot of it. LOL. So nice to have family and built in friends like you do. Love hearing from you!!!!

    Belated Happiest of Birthdays!!! My pal Toni also outfitted me in a tiara and a beauty-queen sash for my 60th… maybe it’s just the finality of those numbers, but the big 6-0 has hit me harder than my other decade birthdays??!!??

 How am I, you may wonder. Pretty good! I am still following the diet prescribed by the MDs and dietician and only adding a thing or two back in weekly. I have discovered a lot of other things about my food and myself. I don't need all the ........(insert something here). Just because the label states the whole can of tuna is one serving, doesn't mean I have to eat the whole can; 1/3 does nicely.  The slice of farmhouse bread, toasted, is just fine cut in half instead of using two slices.  Pickles taste the same even when the peels are removed. I am living without a lot of cheese, my previous staple. Living without second helpings as well.  Eventually I will be able to exchange all this 'white food' for higher fiber veggies and grains. The result is I've lost 11 pounds since the end of January. I don't feel deprived.  Huh.

 Dear Diary, Missed you! I've not been of a mind to post anything. I purchased several of the books OKM was reading as we have similar tastes. I dove into the Fast. Feast. Repeat. book and read it from cover to cover. It was a better read for me than Bright Line Eating, I feel both authors put too much personality in them. I'm a more scientific approach, give me the facts, girl. To me Thompson comes on a bit haughty, Stephens' writing puts me in a 6th grade classroom. Sigh. I've gotten over myself. Just when I hit my 2 week attempt at IF, I spent multiple weeks in the throes of diverticulitis with a few days R&R in the hospital. I called them my spa days. Didn't have to care for DH and didn't care that I couldn't. The only thing missing was a mud pack and a massage. Their kitchen choices were not up to my standards even on a clear liquid diet.
