 Snow It was interesting how tight the bands of heavy vs not-so were. When GS1 and SIL came to help Pop dig out, they were surprised. Eight miles away they had about half of what we got. In my yard, unofficially, 19 inches of white stuff came down overnight Sunday to Monday.  My honey had to go it alone. He used the snow thrower but as the day passed, the water content of this snow made it difficult to get some distance, rendering the machine "almost" useless. There's an Expedition (SUV/truck) under that snow. It looked like we added a conversion top! When the boys arrived, they cleaned off the vehicles, moved more snow and for a while the cars were clean, half of the driveway usable. The other half will simply need to wait for melting.  My view out the window from my recliner as I was not allowed to participate. I f you squint, you can see my reflection.  Well, here I am folks, 11 days in to being the bionic woman. Hubby mimics the "Six Million Dollar" man's jumping theme as I tool around the house on my walker. I'm upgraded to a cane twice a day in the kitchen only for practice walking and free to stroll the bathroom, all 16 square feet of it sans support. I've kept a grin on my face most days watching him try to care for both of us when it's usually the other way around. Today I took on a bit of pulling dinner together from pre-baked meatloaf and I nuked whole potatoes, peeled and mashed them. He supplied the equipment.  I notice his deficits more since I can't do things. He's noticing them too, and is feeling a bit low about it. Ten years ago I didn't think he'd make 65 and here he is turning 75 this year! The work was hard, but rewarding. DD1's family came over on Valentines day for a visit, and that's about it.  I had a blast. My elder daughter took me to a painting party as a treat before my surgery (tomorrow).  We painted Highland cows on tote bags. I have some art skills and can copy what someone else does.  The highlight of this party was the fact that we had mini-Highland cows to interact with!

  It's Happening! The 250th Anniversary events are in full swing. I love where I live. There is so much history here. Yes, I'm going to try and go. Lucky me I pass the commemoration memorial every time I go to DD1's house. My routes around the area are all Revolutionary. I sometimes search for buttons and musket balls. Weeeeeeee!

 My grandson was ecstatic yesterday. Sure, gifts are good, but one of the best was that he is now taller than me! I had been the tallest in our family but between me losing an inch, and him growing like the weeds kids are, he now tops me (by a hair or two). There was a "Yessssssss!" accompanied with a first shove in the air.  The middle child is growing to be the clown, not so much in height and Little Miss at 9 is a as tall as her 12 year old brother; something she hits him with frequently. ;-) One of our dinner discussions was how to change a flat tire, as GS1 has completed drivers ed (when did that happen?) All of the family was, for the first time, dressed in jeans and not a jogger pant on anyone but Pop, and that's ok!  We played some card game called Chameleon, and learned who was the sneakier person in the bunch.  I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday time.  We've had the usual holiday preview... lost a few good ones in the past two weeks; a cousin's hubby of 50 years and a close friend. Yet, things move on. The family gatherings will continue. Hopefully the cousin will attend the post Christmas lunch of all us "old" cousins to be well-protected. The close friend, well, it's tough to not reach for the phone. This will get easier.  I'm pleased to say I've gotten 10-13 pounds off, depending on the salty meal the night before weighing. In 3 pounds I'll make it to onederland for the first time in 20+ years. This is in preparation for surgery in 6 weeks to replace that pesky hip joint. I've been continuing my gym-work as well as working in the warm pool. I think I should do ok post-op. DH is insisting he take care of me...so now I'm scared LOL. I have a backup plan.  Yep, I've been lazy. I went on my huge bucket list vacation and didn't share it here. We had the six of us, siblings and spouses, 10 years after our last trip together in Yellowstone. We flew to Salt Lake, UT and stopped to see what was left of the Great Salt Lake. I touched, and smelled the water...no tasting, uh maybe a little. Onward to Idaho, our first exploration was Craters of the Moon NM. Being a volcano nut, I climbed a few mounds to see what was at the top, then was able to climb this and go inside. My SIL's sat out the volcanic cone. Inside there was not much to see. It WAS dark and they had chain link fencing to keep people from falling in. I've no clue how deep the hole was, but I can say I went into a cinder cone. We viewed Shoshone Falls. I bet it's impressive in the spring with flowing water. My choice of travel time always leaves me with stark rocks at waterfalls. No problem, it was beautiful. Proof of spouse. We traveled the area around Twin Falls ...
