Thought I'd drop by.
Spring has sprung
The grass has riz
I wonder where the flowers is?
My mother used to say that every spring. My kids thought it was nuts. It seems appropriate for today. The foxglove I planted last year was supposed to return, alas they have not. My columbines are blooming so well I may find different colors and plant them in the foxglove spaces as they are deer resistant. I've added 5 bleeding heart plans so my statue may disappear in a beard of green.
My garden is sprouting nicely. Snow peas, green beans and only one row of beets that I promise I won't pull too early this year. I've 3 types of peppers, two tomato plants and am waiting for cucumbers, zucchini and butternut squash to emerge. The green between the cement and garden is cilantro that went to seed last year. OKM would call them 'volunteer' plants. They are good only for cooking as the stems grow strong with few leaves in the late winter. But, they smell good to me when I pull or cut them. Same with the thyme. I've culled multiple patches from my plant and places them along my brick wall. My lawn guy (I call him my gardener) placed dirt and seed where the drought gave me big bare patches. It should take.
My dear DH and I are recovering from our first bout of Covid-19. I though we may have been the last hold-outs. Our cases are not horrible; no lung issues but for me it's nasty headaches and fevers. About the same kind of reactions I got with the vaccines. Oh, and really tired, yet I have trouble sleeping at night. Every day is improvement and I figure we should be normalized by the weekend, although I will avoid any Mother's Day gatherings.
Stay well, all and stay engaged.
Indulge yourself... I'm sleeping extra for you, maybe? Or to catch up from "Carl week". Lovely seedlings, sprouting and giving hope for a harvest ahead!
ReplyDeleteI ordered my first 'pick up' groceries today. We'll see how it goes. We are well enough to be getting antsy!
ReplyDeleteHope your garden is prolific! LOVELY plants.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that you and DH got Covid, but glad that you and he are recovering. Hope that the lingering affects are quick to exit.
Hugs

So good to hear from you. You were absent in April and I was wondering about you and your family.
ReplyDeleteI love columbines and find that some plants like them love me and others don't so I stick with plants like those. Some plants love me too much and I am sorry I ever planted echinacea/ purple coneflower. It spreads everywhere like garlic chives. I would not be surprised to find it growing in my nose. I have a bleeding heart and lots of hostas. I planted a second coral bell last year but it didn't make it. Benny is weary of gardening and so am I so this year not much got planted other than radishes we just harvested, some lettuce, some tomatoes, and some peppers. Mostly what he wanted to grow as I told him to nix the garden. I don't like tomatoes. Two old people like us don't need a big garden anyway but if I were to garden I would probably raise other things I love like beets, turnips, cabbage, cauliflower, cucumbers, etc. We used to grow everything we both like so our garden was huge. Now we neither one want to bend over. Or sweat.
Sorry to hear about the Covid. We are still masked - one of the few here because we know a few older people who are on radiation/chemo and are immune suppressed and these few have had covid every time a variant occurs. The other few we see wearing masks probably are like us - likely to die from Covid if exposed to it. I feel I need shirts that say - "My husband is on chemo so yes I wear a mask. F.O!" Almost everyone stares. Ignorant people here hate us because they think it's a political statement. I'm not opposed to ignorant people thinking that. I'm happy to avoid them. I hope you both have a complete speedy recovery. Hugs and prayers. Miss you always. Check to see if you posted every day.
I want a variation of that T shirt.
DeleteYou are keeping the F.O. though. Right? LOL. That is important to let rude people know you don't give a rat's bottom about what they think.
DeleteI'm from New Jersey, it'll be a hand signal.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Of course it will start a fashion trend and everyone will want one.
DeleteOh my! Sorry to hear of your illness, prayers for uncomplicated recoveries for you both
